Upcycled Fabric Top & Vintage Skirt Pattern
Here is an unlikely but satisfying ensemble showing off some of my latest garment experiments.
The top is an upcycled, self-drafted style made using the pillow case fabric from an IKEA duvet set that I purchased for a few dollars at the thrift store. There is a lot more fabric from the duvet cover itself and the other pillow case to make additional items! I made the top in a simple gathered neck / halter style with a laced back. I made a custom tie to match.
The skirt is vintage pattern Simplicity 9172. It was an easy sew and I made the 3/4 length option (view 1) slightly shortened for my height. It is a half circle skirt with a zipper. This was my first adult-sized garment and it went pretty well. I used a thrifted fabric that has a vintage look and feel to it – I have no idea what the fabric content is but it feels like a synthetic / cotton blend. This pattern is super versatile and would work with a number of fabrics. I will definitely make it again!
