I bring years of experience as a graphic artist and fine art photographer (andreaq.com) to inform my work as a seamstress and designer.
Meticulous attention to detail, artful compositions of fabric texture and color, and technical precision are characteristic qualities of the seamtheory aesthetic. Each pattern I work with or create is researched, studied, and adapted to meet my strict ideals for the end product.
From my beautiful home studio located in Western New York, I create high quality products using my collection of rare thrifted materials and vintage all-metal sewing machines. Many of the fabrics in my collection are vintage and/or out of production, making the majority of my pieces truly one of a kind.
The use of remnant and vintage materials and vintage sewing machines is a conscious choice I made out of respect for the environment. I embrace the idea of generating abundance through making use of what already exists but is often overlooked. The concept of environmental respect can be recognized throughout my body of work.
In addition to the products I make and customize, I will selectively consider commissions.
